How and/or where did you start comedy?
I started comedy over twelve years ago when a friend of mine recommended that I do Gerry Katzman's Standup Comedy Class. I had two little kids at the time and it was the first thing I had done for myself in years.
What inspires you or drives you?
What is some advice you would give to aspiring comics?
It inspires me to connect with audiences, get rid of the antiquated garbage idea that women aren't funny, and to inspire people to do comedy or anything creative that helps them connect to audiences.
Advice to aspiring comics: keep getting up and find a venue where you can start a mic or a show to create an environment that nurtures you and those around you.
Are there obstacles you've faced and how did or do you persevere?
Being a woman in comedy, there are obstacles like getting booked as more than just a token woman on a show here and there, and as a mom, the obstacle is childcare. It is always a life and work balance with family. Juggling kids school concerts and shows. As far as perseverance, I keep writing and creating. I love inspiring people, whether it's through a show someone went to or a class they did with me.
What's something awesome that's happened to you recently?
My oldest started college, and my kids are happy kind people. That's truly awesome. I am hugely proud of them. This last year I headlined at The Bug Theater, Comedy Fort, and Loonie's with Mom's Unhinged. It was awesome to perform at Comedy Works with John Novosad. Another fun thing was performing at Boulder Theater and the Jimmy Kimmel's Comedy Club in Vegas back to back.
Are there some big accomplishments and or credits you're proud of and would like mentioned?
June of 2025 will be the 5th annual Boulder Comedy Festival, which I started to highlight women and diversity in comedy. I teach standup comedy which is an awesome way to empower people to connect to each other through laughter. I also have a women's standup comedy class, which is a full circle moment.
