How or where did you start comedy?
I studied theatre at NYU and after graduation my friend, Morgan Jay, took me to my first open mic. I didn't really know how to write stand up or find my comedic voice until taking Gerry Katzman's stand up comedy class, shortly after that.
What inspires you or drives you?
Spreading joy and getting to give opportunities to other comedians.
What is some advice you would give to aspiring comics?
Stand up is hard, be kind to yourself and be kind to others. There's enough for everyone.
Start from your truth.
Sometimes you gotta bomb.
Are there obstacles you've faced and how did or do you persevere?
I think I have probably gotten in my own way at times, putting unnecessary pressure on myself, being afraid to ask for opportunities or trying to be something I am not.
What's something awesome that's happened to you recently?
I started a residency at the Jimmy Kimmel Comedy Club in Las Vegas! "Up Late with Heather" happens every other Thursday night at 11:30pm. We've been doing all female line ups and the energy has been incredible. Come hang!!
Are there some big accomplishments and or credits you're proud of and would like mentioned?
I now teach that very same comedy class I started in with Gerry Katzman. Helping people find and harness their funny is one of my greatest joys. www.StandUpComedyClass.com.
I released a short special "Slay at Home Mom" out now on 800PGM and Youtube
